Home > Flagpole Maintenance

We are sure at some point in your life, you may have seen a flag being hoisted up on a flagpole and felt impressed by the beauty of the flagpole. Every businessman desires to make a statement through his flagpoles and wants to attract as many eyeballs as possible towards his business. You may also have installed a flagpole so that you can make a statement but there is nothing that makes a wrong kind of statement faster than an unused and badly maintained flagpole. Frank’s Flag Store has listed down ways you can keep your flagpole in top condition.

Regular Inspection of Flag Pole:

Things you should look for when inspecting during your routine maintenance:

  • Halyard- the rate of halyard wear will depend on various factors including flag size, wind conditions, weather and usage. Therefore, it is recommended that you inspect the halyards on a monthly basis. During the inspection you should look for fraying, tearing or other visible damage.
  • Winch- check the level of debris on the winch and cable. It is recommended that you remove debris on the winch and cable to avoid buildup.
  • Poles- check if there are any stains and debris on poles. If any, then remove them.
  • Flag- check if there are any tears, frays, stains and weather damages.

Keep your Flags and Flagpoles clean:

  • Most aluminum flagpoles can be easily cleaned with a mild soap and warm water. You just need to attach a soapy sponge to the halyard, then clean the pole by raising and lowering the halyard.
  • The anodized color on Flagpoles serves as a protective coating, so the flagpoles will not require cleaning.
  • A mild bathroom cleaner and water is all you need to clean a fiberglass flagpole.
  • You should never dry clean flags, instead spot clean the flags with mild soap and water only.

Replace your Flagpole parts when needed:

Over time the weather conditions will start taking a toll on your flagpole, if after careful inspection from professionals some parts cannot be repaired then you shouldn’t be afraid to replace the damaged parts.
